Step 1: Prepare High-Quality WAV Files
Ensure all files are 24-bit WAV/AIFF format with a consistent sample rate of 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz, or 96kHz. Each stem should start from the beginning of bar one to maintain synchronization.
Step 2: Keep FX on Stems, Clean Master Bus
Include FX (effects) on your individual stems if they’re integral to the sound. However, ensure your master bus is free of limiters, compressors, or other processing. This allows us maximum control over the final mix without any unintended coloration from the master bus.
Step 3: Separate Key Elements
Make sure essential parts of your track, like the kick, bass, sub-bass, vocals, and lead instruments, are provided as separate stems. This separation gives us greater flexibility to balance and enhance each element individually.
Step 4: Ensure Headroom
Each individual track should peak around -3dB to give us enough room for processing without distortion. This helps achieve a clean and professional final mix.
Step 5: Check for Noise and Pops
Go through each track and ensure it’s free of unwanted noise, clicks, and pops. Clean stems allow us to focus on enhancing the mix without extra editing.
Step 6: Organize and Label Files
Label your files clearly to streamline the mixing process. For example: TrackName_Instrument.wav. Proper labeling avoids confusion and speeds up the workflow.
Step 7: Use a File Transfer Service
After ordering, you’ll receive an email with instructions to share your files. We accept Dropbox, WeTransfer, and Google Drive for easy file transfer.
